Racquetball

So I discovered that racquetball is an incredible calorie burner.  It involves running, stretching, leaping, and strength, especially in the arms and shoulders.  It also builds hand-eye coordination really well (and just body coordination…which I don’t have much of lol).  And it’s fun by yourself, too! You don’t have to have someone else to play with!  Also, since it involves hitting balls hard against walls, it’s pretty good for anger management.

You can make up all sorts of games with it–hit it off the wall and if it bounces more than once before you hit it against a wall again, you lose. Hit it against the wall and if you hit a certain spot, you gain a point.  Hit it against the wall and try not to let it touch the ground–this involves a ton more running and I haven’t gotten to this point yet. Play with different arms–this requires you to practice using a racquet with your left hand but if you start early and use it as much as with your right, you’ll quickly become ambidextrous at it and awe those you play with! Plus it gets your left arm (if you’re right-handed) the exercise, too, so you don’t have one muscular arm and one flabby arm.  Develop cool little tricks like spinning after you toss the ball up in the air and then hitting it after you spin.  Make yourself do pushups or something if the ball becomes dead and stops bouncing.

And when you play with two people, you can play competitively! (3 or more people doesn’t give as good a workout as 2, but you’ll still get something out of it)

I wish I had discovered this sport last year….hehe.
